As a child I use to look forward to bedtime; not because I got to sleep, but because I got to read. My parents had a great idea when we were little...we could stay up half an hour later past our bedtime if we used that time to read a book. To us it was like a reward, to them it was a great way to incorporate literacy into our every day activities.
Incorporating literacy into your lives does not have to be complicated. Try having your child read out the grocery list to you as you go shopping, or look at a news article together. The little things you do every day make a big impact on your child's literacy.
